CROOKED NEWS

IndieCharts has listed Crooked Timber as Number 2 in Folk!!

You need to go check us out at the Indie Charts site. The users ranking we have held (see below)has not changed, but the industry panel review which I have been requesting for a couple months now has finally come in. They look at many different aspects of the music to determine their rating and from what I gathered from some of the members on the site, they are a big deal. Keep in mind that there are 87 genres listed at Indie Charts, each containing HUNDREDS of bands and we are listed under only one; folk. Of ALL bands, in ALL genres, Crooked Timber was ranked 110 with the 6th highest score. Of Folk ONLY, Crooked Timber is in a two-way tie for the 1 spot with the highest panel score for the genre of 7.0.

Based on the Curve System for the Primary Genre of Folk(Artist) Crooked Timber has the 5th Highest Member Rank Score with a 5.7. This is pretty awesome, folks... But we'd really like to see some even better results. Please go to indiecharts.com and VOTE! There's alot of different aspects of a band to vote on, and they all add up to make the members ranking. In addition to this ranking, we are currently in a holding pattern, waiting for the experts panel to review us. We expect this rating to be high, as well.

As if that wasn't enough, we'll be entered into a contest at that site that utilizes the member ratings, hits on the member site and number of fans listed for the artist as a few of the criteria for rankings. If you would please visit this site and give us a little love, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, everyone!!

Other Standings in the Charts

I was checking out some other sites tonight and I found some interesting stuff. Like... According to New Music Label (www.newmusiclabel.com), our song "Hey, Now" (to be released on the next CD, but we leaked it already, anyway..) has already hit number 6 on their Top Country Music Billboard. That's some pretty incredible stuff, if you ask me. I mean, I KNOW Scott writes some of the greatest stuff I've ever heard, and his lyrics have ALWAYS floored me which is why I feel so privileged to be a member of this band... But we are starting to get alot of industry recognition for Crooked Timber. This is so gratifying!!!

Here's one more: There is a site that operates out of the Pittsburgh, PA area called ZBands (www.zbands.com) that promotes unsigned artists from across the country. Our CD, "I Don't Mind If It Rains A Little" has been featured on this site numerous times and is again featured at the time of this writing. How cool is THAT???

If anyone has seen us ranked well anywhere else, please drop us a line and let us know...

Borders Books and Music Update

Wow!

We have now played Borders twice, and both times have been amazing! Who would have thought that a bookstore would be such a great venue. The second time there, we were happy to see some of our friends return to hang out with us. It was such a gratifying show all around; the audience was in to it (especially the little ones! LOL), the music was dead on... It was just a wonderful experience all around!

There is a definite possibility that we'll be back to that venue, and there is a great chance that we'll be expanding on this Borders gig by playing additional LOCATIONS! We'll let you know as soon as we do when and where that will be!

UPDATE

We're going BACK AGAIN! Look for us July 19th at the Cuyahoga Falls location, and on July 25th at the Fairlawn location!!!!

CD Availability

We have been asked "How do I get my hands on your CD?" Well, we're happy to say that it's getting EASIER! Not only is "I Don't Care If It Rains A Little" in it's second printing, local music stores are carrying it, including Borders on Howe Ave in Cuyahoga Falls as well as Time Traveler Music located on State Road in the Falls and their new location on Main Street in Hudson, Ohio. In addition, the CD will ALWAYS be available at our shows and individual tracks can be purchased for a nominal fee right here on our MySpace site.

When the new web site is up and running, you will be able to purchase the CD online as well as T-Shirts (Which shamelessly flaunt the Crooked Timber name), and anything else we can stamp a logo on and make a buck from.

Back to Recording

Crooked Timber is back in our basement studio recording what promises to be a spectacular second CD. Scott has written some real gems for this one, and we are both very excited about the direction the music is taking. While the Crooked Timber sound basically remains the same, the music will be taking on the added dimension of full percussion which should really round out the sound. The overall effect is what we consider to be a brilliant sequel so far to "..Rains A Little" . The new music will be performed at all shows leading up to the CD release, so make sure to come out and give a listen.

We'll let you all know when the release date is set.
